ABOUT

The primary purpose of Community Action agencies is to obtain grant funds and local contributions to use for services and activities which have a major impact on the causes of poverty in the community.

Community Action agencies, through coordination of public and private services programs, promote self-sufficiency for low-income individuals and encourage the use of private sector involvement in anti-poverty activities.

Meeting this goal is a long and dynamic journey, challenging,  because it requires Community Action agencies to develop a variety of self-help programs and opportunities directly involving the poor.  Community Action has produced notable accomplishments to date.

The idea that the poor should and can work effectively on their own behalf to eliminate poverty is confirmed by their active participation in all programs we administer.  The poor are the driving force in our agency; however, we provide educational and volunteer programs for all citizens.
